WINTERGREEN OIL

Wintergreen oil is extracted from the leaves of Gaultheria procumbens by steam distillation process, the leaves of which are previously mascerated in warm water.

It is a natural source of Methyl Salicylate, which has the ability to –

• relieve pain in arthritis
• numb sore muscles
• increase stamina, alertness, energy during workouts
• decrease menstrual pain when rubbed over the abdomen
• reduce inflammation

Also used for treating headache, bacterial infections, sore throat, and tooth decay.

In industry and manufacturing units, wintergreen oil is used as a flavoring agent for products such as candies, toothpastes, and mouthwashes.   Also used as a flavouring agent in soft drinks.  It can also be used as a scent additive.
