Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a tall, perennial grass native to the tropical and sub-tropical climates of Asia, Australia and Africa. In India, this grass is found inÂ the Western Ghats and the north eastern mountain regions.
This oil is obtained by steam distillation from fresh and partially dried grass.Â It has a sweet lemon aroma and is used in cooking and brewing of tea.
